Why did the batch of Mr. Beer I made seem to have NO ALCOHOL content?!

Question:

Why did the batch of Mr. Beer I made seem to have NO ALCOHOL content?

I made a batch of what comes with the Mr. Beer kit (West Coast Pale Ale) just as instructed. The beer came out alright as far as taste, taste quite good actually, but has no alcohol content. I drank (2) 1 liter bottles and did not get even the slightest buzz. Are all of Mr. Beer kits like this or am I missing some crucial step in the process?

To further my explanation I should add that I extended the fermntation time to three weeks and the the carbonation time to two (a total of 5 weeks). Maybe the yeast was dead/bad???

I think it could be bad yeast.

I made the west coast pale ale this past christmas and it seemed like it had alcohol in it. I talked to alot of people and they told me to leave it in the fermenter longer than just a week or whatever the mr.beer instruction book says. That would probably help in giving the yeast more time to ferment. I would also like to add that if you get a regular 5 gallon ingredient kit and cut it in half, the beer will taste so much better in your mr.beer kit. They are also alot cheaper than buying the mr.beer kit stuff of their website.
Brewers Best is a good namebrand that makes some great beer.

This reminds me of the wino eating grapes - "Dude, you gotta wait!"

Sounds like bad yeast or someone slipped a Monistat into your brew!

I had a Mr beer, it was awful sugary stuff when I was done. I know some people who get good results from home brewing, there are no shortcuts. Some microbreweries will allow you to use their facilities to brew and bottle your own from one of their many recipes. That would be a lot better in the long run. Me? I just went back to buying beer.
