Does alcohol get better-teasting as a person gets older??!

Question:

Does alcohol get better-teasting as a person gets older??

from my personal experience, when i was younger i hated the taste of beer. but now it is tasting better to me and i am able to tolerate it more. i am not a drunk but i do like beer now. i will be able to drink a whole beer soon! that will be my limit though. more then one would be too risky.

My tastes have definitely changed. I used to love cider, but rarely touch the stuff now. Ditto Vodka!!! (I REALLY used to love that!)

I never liked beer, the smell really makes me feel ill. That hasn't changed as I've aged. I never used to drink red wine, but now I love the stuff. I used to hate champagne - a load of bubbles and an itchy nose as far as I could tell. Now, I have the occasional glass and enjoy it!

I often have a glass of port at the end of the day and I love red martini with 7-Up, ice and lemon/lime slice as a looooong drink!

Yes, my tastes have changed. Let's face it, I used to detest green veggies and now I can't get enough of them!!!!! Now THAT really is weird!!!

yes, as you get older your palate matures. i love the taste of a good whisky now but it used to make me feel sick when i was a kid.

yep... its a *****... it just makes you wanna drink all the time.

Depends on the person. Most people grow to like things with complex tastes like alcohol or coffee. But some people seem to never get past a very simple palette and eat and drink no differently then they did as children. But typically as you experience more tastes your palette gets more sophisticated and you like things drier and more complex instead of sweet and simple.

Perhaps it does. Im 20 and dont really like the taste of alcopops or most alcoholic drinks. Alcohol is an acquired taste anyway.

It has tasted the same to me. Beer on tap tastes one billion times better than beer in a can or bottle. I doubt you drank tap beer when you were younger. I need a beer now.

I personally don't find it to be true - I hate beer now, compared to when I was 21.
Alchohol has never tasted good to me, and anyone who feels the same way is lucky!

It has to do with devloping your pallet over the years. As you taste things repeatedly over the years, your taste buds remember the flavor. Each new time you taste beer your taste buds will be able to define more complex flavors.

No, alcohold doesn't get better tasting, but your taste in things do change, so as you get older you may grow to liking it better or less. It's not a matter of age at all.

no. but the drunker you are, the better it will taste. (rather, the less it will taste... hooray for drunk tastebuds...)

Of course, you will eventually find what you like.
I was a late bloomer and I was never a fan of beer. I started on Bud Light and Natural Ice etc...Now I enjoy heavier beers such as Guinness, New Castle and lots and lots of micro brews. Honestly, I can't stand Budweiser or any light beers anymore.

Well it all about development/maturing...when u were young you liked certain kinds of games and interacted more with certain age group of people. you preferred candies more...maybe milk...cartoons...our tastes change (mostly develop and refine ) with age. books; tv soaps;women/men (including ages); commitments;roles...

Well .. yes at first it does taste bitter and harsh. But that should wear off after a couple of years of drinking something. I actually always liked beer, but had a major problem with wine until I was about 28.

Glad that you are beginning to enjoy the teast!! or flavour of beer. Just be sure that you taste real ale not the commercial stuff like Tetleys/John Smith - what we would call keg beers. Good quality real ale will let you experience the full flavours of Hop, Malt and adjuncts - so please do enjoy it - I raise my glass to you (mind you it is Home-made, full mash, 5% bitter and I love it).
