nothing... or if you prefer ice or some water...even coke is forgiveable..

If you are civilised ice only

coke and lime

or

a sour mix for Whiskey Sour

or

just ice

or

just lime

or

your hopes and dreams going down the drain... (that's probably just a personal aside).

an expensive drunk, a possible random hook up, a great hang-over and the "that guy or girl" award for the night. sounds good huh!!!!!

I agree totally with all who said nothing, though I have been known to toss in a few ice cubes on occasion..

ICE,

Coke is OK if it is Bourbon or Canadian, not Scotch.

I prefer it straight up, chilled or over ice. (preferably Bushmill's or Jameson).

Another way I enjoy whiskey is in Irish coffee. Keep in mind, there are specific glasses for this drink. Put 1 teaspoon sugar in the bottom of the glass. Add 1 to 1.5 ounces Jameson. Stir. Add coffee to within 1/2 inch to an inch of the top of the glass. Float fresh whipped cream on top. Enjoy!
