When making a margarita, is a blender a good substitute for a cocktail shaker?!

Question:

When making a margarita, is a blender a good substitute for a cocktail shaker?

I want to make a margarita at home, and I don't have a shaker to make crushed ice. So, can a blender make crushed ice? If so, give me instructions on how to make it. Thank you.

Answers:
yes a blender can crush ice but make sure when you purchase the blender it is strong enough to do this. it will say on the box. Most blenders now do crush ice. You can make a margarita frozen or on the rocks with just ice cubes, but frozen is of course always better. I love my margaritas. Either with sour mix, or you can make strawberry margaritas or anything even watermelon margaritas are great (there are liquors with every flavor now). My favorite margarita is 2 oz Patron, 2 oz Gran Marnier, and 2 oz sour mix. I love it. My favorite sour mix is Jose Cuervo. Hope this helps. Happy Drinking

For a frozen Margarita a blender is much better. Do you mean a shaver? Crushed Ice is not as smooth as shaved ice, but the blender is a good next choice. Just pour the mix and the ice into the blender and hit blend until the color changes, it will lighten when the ice is all crushed. Not too long or you'll liquefy the whole thing!

Have fun

A shaker is used for making a margarita on the rocks. A blender is used for making a frozen margarita. Go to the grocery store and buy a bottle of margarita mix and follow the instructions on the bottle.
