How to get or make creme de yvette (violet liqueur)?!

Question:

How to get or make creme de yvette (violet liqueur)?

I've seen recipes calling for it in Old Mr. Boston and other older drink books, but it is not available anywhere. The fact that it is so elusive makes me want to try it all the more.

Answers:
Creme de Yvette hasn't been produced since the late 60's, IIRC. You -might- be able to find it at auction or somesuch (much like you can sometimes find vintage Absinthe), but I wouldn't count on it. There -is- a modern violet liqueur available- Benoit Serres Violette (www.benoit-serres.com). You can buy it here: http://www.thedrinkshop.com/products/nlp...

You might also try making your own- infuse brandy with violet petals and vanilla bean, and add a bit of sugar.
