Did ashton cigars ever make cubans?!

Question:

Did ashton cigars ever make cubans?

Someone told me they smoked a ashton cuban cigar in 1986
in London. Did Ashton ever make a Cuban cigar?

Answers:
Simply put your friend is either lying or has no idea what he is talking about. Ashtons were never made in Cuba. Several of their cigars have been rated higher than Cubans however.

Ashton The cigars, all wrapped in Connecticut leaf with Cuban seed Dominican binder, are produced in three different styles with distinct flavours: Ashton Ashton Aged Cabinet Selection and Ashton Aged Maduro. Due to extra ageing, the Cabinet Selection is the mildest. The Aged Maduro, using broad-leaf wrappers, gives a mellow smoke with a sweet flavour.

Ashton Cigar was started by Robert Levin, a Philadelphiean tobacconist, in 1985. The filler is Dominican leaf and the wrapper is either from Connecticut or Ecuador.

So no, your friend has never smoked a Cuban Ashton as they were never and are still not made in Cuba. Moreover, he probably didn't even smoke an Ashton at all in London around 1986, seeing as the company had JUST started less than a year previous in the United States.
