Can an unopened bottle of whiskey that is over 50 years old be consumed?!

Question:

Can an unopened bottle of whiskey that is over 50 years old be consumed?

I have one, I don't drink, and I'm trying to unload it on E-Bay.
Thanks

Answers:
Older the better!!! You will get good money for it on Ebay BUT I think your not allowed to sell that kinda stuff on there. WoOOW!!! 50+ years old, I like to taste that burn!!!! If you can sell it on Ebay, start it at a reserved price- Like $200.00 and if you can't sell it on there then find someone at a big college Frat house this coming school year and get good $ that way.

I would think you can.

The alcohol prevents any bacterial growth.
The cork/stopper prevents air from effecting the product.
The glass bottle is inert so no chemicals leach into the whiskey.

If you're selling it on e-bay... just make it clear that it's 50 years old and unopened. Let the buyer decide what they want to do with it - Collect it or drink it.

Yes it can but hold on to your hat

Liquor that's is not opened will stay fine. If it was open the only thing that could happen is it will evaporate

yes. not like it's gonna go bad and ferment!

I don't know, you should send it to my house for testing.

LoL. Aged whiskey is better. Drink it, or messege me and I can give you a mailing address in which you can send the bottle to, for testing of course.

Whiskey do not age in the bottle, I would say you can.

Check the evaporation rate. The further down it is the weaker or stronger it may get. Depending on how old it was when it was put in the bottle. if the bottle says 10YO then its only 10YO even if you had it for 50 years.

Alcohol evaporates, so check the bottle before you try to sell it.

Example:

Do a bottle of Cognac, that has 1oz of Cognac that Napoleon drank cost more than that same bottle without that ounce. Does that bottle makes one older than the other.

again get the facts.

Bring it to my house and we'll find out

Um 50 yrs is kinda old. If you stored it correctly it might be a nice drink, assuming it was of good quality. If it was stored poorly, with regard to heat and light it may have degraded. It would be interesting to see how it turns out. Most whiskey is aged in Casks not in bottles. Good luck on ebay no body ever buys my stuff. You may wanna check if its legal to see alcohol on Ebay as you cannot be assured of the buyers age. sounds fun

There are not enough o's in Smooth to describe it.
