Rum + Coke = Chest pains. Why?

Rum and coke is one of my favorite drinks for dinner and social atmospheres. But recently i've had a problem were on or two small glasses causes chest pain. Ive allways had a light system with alchol and this has never happened before.

Answers:
It is probably heartburn, I get it often when drinking. Try Rolaids, Tums, Pepto, Maalox.... that stuff. Remember that there is caffeine in the soda. A lot of people end up consuming very large amounts of caffeine if they drink those type of mixed drinks all night. That messes up my heart and breathing sometimes.

Maybe the carbonation is too much and the sweet from the rum is causing heart burn like symptoms?

Don't drink alcohol until you talk to your Doctor, Good Luck Feel Better.

Maybe you should drink a mans drink and it wouldnt happen

Any soda or alcohol can cause heartburn or agitation to a stomach Ulcer. Lay off the booze or try something with out a sugar base or fizz. If it persists with other food or drinks..See your physician.

Consult your doctor. ?

ITS HEARTBURN

That is crazy because I have experience the weird chest pain thing with certain drinks and I am not sure why. I am young and drink socially but some drinks used to cause me like a tightening feeling and especially in the shoulders and arms, and I would tell my friends or whoever I was with and they would tell me its nothing or it was heartburn and I know heartburn it was no that. I wish I knew what it was??? I don't get it anymore thanks God! but i know what you mean.

I really don't think it is heartburn or stomache ulcer though.

maybe the coke is too much, try diet coke or change the type of rum you are using...
