You might like a Shiraz, or possibly a Bordeaux. If you're going somewhere with a wine steward, ask him or her for guidance, they're very helpful.

You'd probably like a chianti, or, since it's spring, a sangria would be good. But if I were you, I'd stick with what I know and like on a first date, and test out these other wines on your own. You can get sangria in bottles, or make your own (it's basically red wine, oranges, lemons, and sugar with a dash of grand marnier -- there are recipes all over the internet)

I love pinot noir-- try it!

Shiraz. Its a mixture of red wines, sometime of red and white. Try an Australian variety, they are really good. If you can find a store that only sells wine (not a grocery strore) you can get better prices. If you would rather get a cheap wine with a great taste try Bearfoot. Its from California but is not available in every grocery store. Its my favorite. It has won several awards for being the best tasting in its price class.

it really depends on the your palate, the wine, and what you're having it with. you know the yellow and black "idiot's guide" books? here'a link that they'll send you a copy. "The Complete Idiot's Guide to Wine" for free! (i got it about 6 months ago and they were out of hard copies, so they gave it to me to download and print. they may have hard copies again, though.)

Red Burgundy, which is called Pinot Noir when bottled outside of France is a great choice. It pairs well with lighter foods, like chicken and fish. Syrah, aka shiraz in Australia, and Hermitage and Chateauneuf de pape in france, is a bigger fruitier wine, pairs well with bigger bolder foods and stews. tons of italian reds like chianti are also out there. It's OK to ask for help in a restaurant, just be able to describe the taste that you like (which you already did above).

it depends on if its am appetizer wine or dinner wine. an app wine needs to accentuate itself as precurser for dinner, simply put, u want it to blend with your up coming dinner course. It doesn't have to be the same wine u have for dinner but certainly in the same ball park. this is just primarily good etiquett, not absolute of course. A good red for a person whi enjoys zins and cabs would probably be a Shyra or a Burgandy. Both maintain a similar astringecy and acidity level to zins and cabs and both usually have an excellent bouquet like the cab. Cote DuRhone makes a good red with good price value and so does fetzer's with their cab, Kendall Jackson also (a little pricey, but good) and of course, any Robert Mondavi reds prove fulfilling to the pallet. Just remember this, if u wanna impress, have server fetch u sharpe chedder, or goat, or feta, or provolone sliced up for u and ur guess to clean your pallets between tastings of your wines. Have great time and don't drink too much wine. Good luck.

Shiraz, Chianti and a good port is always enjoyable.

a nice Shiraz or Pinot Noir, Chianti,

Pinot Noir is the way to go. It's an excelent wine, great for a first date.

Paraiso $23 Cambria $20

Get a Southern Rhone.....preferably a"Cairanne", there are more Balanced, lightly Fruity and not to Dry. Cairanne's are from one Vineyard only so the the Quality is much better.

Go with a spanish tempranillo/ grenache like Red Guitar Wines. It is very good... about $10 in ohio

Syrah is nice; not quite as bold as a merlot. Usually a little oak flavor. Very earthy. Australian reds are my personal fav.

Syrah is a hearty red wine noted for its complexity of aromas and flavors including raspberry, plum, smoke, and white pepper. It is a dark red wine, sometimes almost black in color. This wine is also called Shiraz.

Pinot Noir is a smooth silky red wine that is extremely fruity. It is characterized with aromas and flavors of black cherry or rose petals along with hints of spiciness or herbal qualities. Pinot Noirs are enjoyed for their soft velvety texture. High in alcohol, they are full bodied but not heavy.

Barbera is often used as a blending grape. As a varietal it can exhibit aromas of berries, plums, or cherries with hints of vanilla, toasty, or smoky flavors.

Sangiovese is a medium bodied dry red wine with earthy aromas and berry, plum, spicy, or floral flavors. It has a smooth texture. Sangiovese is the main grape used to produce Italian Chiantis.
