An old wives tale of getting "high"?

I was visiting my grandfather the other day and he was telling me about when he was younger, him and his friends would all eat 2 whole nutmeg's each in order to get "high". Can anyone confirm this or has his age gotten the best of him?

yes people used to actully sniff and shoot nutmeg baxk in the 30's 40's and 50's . there is a natural compound in it that gives people a euphoric feeling.
