What drinks should I have on hand for a party?

I'll have beer of course, but what else?

I'm thinking mixed drinks rather than shots. Should I have wine too? It's a fairly small party (probably about 10-15 people) with a casual potluck dinner.

I consider this question along the same lines of "what should I stock my bar with." The answer of course is "what do you and your friends like to drink?" If you know the people coming over, get whatever alcohol you all enjoy drinking. For my friends, I would need to have Vodka, Jack Daniels, Tequila, and maybe some SoCo or Jagermeister. I didn't say Rum or Gin because I nor my friends drink that. Substitute bottles as needed for your friends tastes.

If you don't know what anyone likes, then I advise you to stick with classics. Vodka is a given, and make sure you have some JD, Tequila, and Rum. Other things to buy would include Orange juice, Cranberry juice, Coke, whole limes, etc. With the four bottles I listed and Orange juice and Coke, you should be able to make most people happy. (and by happy I mean drunk...)
