Why people go to supermarket to buy drinking water?!

Question:

Why people go to supermarket to buy drinking water?

In california, why people go to supermarket to buy drinking water, like arrowhead, evian? They could buy a water filtration at home, like, brita, and then drink the water filtered from it. Thanks!

Read Aesop's Fables. The Emperor's New Clothes. This fable pretty much sums it up.
As to all the comments about chlorine, you all need to understand that it is there to kill disease causing organisms. The addition of chlorine to public drinking water was the single biggest advancement in public health in the 20th century. Typhoid, dysentery, and chlolera were all very common diseases from infected drinking water. Using chlorine as a disinfectant has increased public health. A person can test for the presence of chlorine and know the water has been disinfected. Other disinfection methods such as UV and Ozone require a time consuming lab test and retain no disinfection properties as the water is distributed down the pipelines.
A end use filter such as mentioned is the best way to go if the tap water in your area has taste and odor issues. Reverse osmosis units aren't really that good (especially the older ones) as they can create a backflow situation thus making your drinking water unsafe.
