Cans of Champagne?!
Cans of Champagne?
In an episode of 'Are You Being Served' they were handing out glasses of champagne from a can. Does champagne come in a can in the UK? I have never seen this and was wondering if maybe cheap champagne came this way.

I don't want a can of champagne, just want to know if it really comes this way.

Coppola winery in California (owned by movie mogul Francis Ford Coppola) makes a very good sparkling wine called "Sofia" (named after his movie producer/director daughter).
It is available in 187 ml size cans that are pink in color. The clubbies in Los Angeles drink it from the can with a straw!
You can see it here:

Real champagne never comes in a can, only cheap immitation. Wasn't the stuff in Are You Being Served? Japanese?
ooo now that would be good, I'm a bit of an alcohol fan and I've never seen a can of champers...but I'd like to!
Champagne in a Can? Are u kidding me? It must have been some really cheap and very bad champagne.
I'll stick with bottles of champagne.

caviar too
mmm with lotts an lotts of vinegar

lol
I think that was just a joke.
When I saw your question, I immediately thought of that episode of 'Are You Being Served' too, because that is the only reference I have ever heard of to tinned champagne.
The was champagne is made, I doubt you could do it in a can. You have to add a yeast to make the bubbles, and then you ferment it upside down. You have to freeze the neck and remove the frozen plug to take out the sediment from the yeast, or the champagne would be cloudy. I just don't think you could do this with a can.
*cringes* champagne in a can?!
yes you can get it in a can. Movie Director Francis Ford Coppola made a sparkling wine for his daughter Sofia. It comes in a four pack of bright pink cans. It is called Sofia Blanc De Blanc.
What a great idea!! You can get wine in cans and also pre-mixed G&T's - I leave a couple in the fridge for when I've had a really hard day at work - very handy!
