When cooking with wine, what is the best white, sherry, and red to use?!?
I just got 5 new cookbooks and a lot of recipes call for wine. But, I don't know where to even start to look for a decent (inexpensive) wine to use. I know nothing about wine. So, any tips would be great!

I work in a liquor store and I get a lot of questions about what wine to use for cooking. Most recipes will tell you what kind of wine, (white, sherry, red). Most people will say to use a wine that you would drink. Most liquor clerks will have wine knowledge so if you are looking for a decent, inexpensive wine, ask a liquor clerk first. Tell them what you're cooking, and what kind of wine it calls for, and I'm sure they will lead you to what you're looking for.
