What is the main difference between Irish and Scotch Whiskeys?
I know that they are spelled differently, but I want to know what are the differences in taste and production and if you want to say which one you prefer and which brand that would be good too.
Answers:
The main difference between Irish and Scotch Whiskeys is that in Irish Whiskey, when cooking it they do not use peat - which means that Irish whiskey does not have that heavy smoky flavor that scotch has. Irish whiskey is also the only whiskey subjected to triple distillation - so it's going to smoother than other whiskeys.
For Irish Whiskeys, you can't go wrong with Bushmills, Jameson, Murphy or Paddy.
For Scotch - which comes in either single malt or blended malt, try Glenfiddich & Glenlivet for single malts and Johnnie Walker Black, Dewars or Cutty Sark for blended.
