Britain's largest brewer is Scottish & Newcastle UK ,they own 4 breweries , the main one is in Manchester , there is also the John Smith's brewery in Yorkshire , a lager factory in Reading and the Federation in Gateshead. Their brands include Newcastle Brown, Fosters, Kronenbourg, San Miguel and Grimbergen.
The no 2 brewery is Inbev UK, a combination of the belgian Interbrew and the brazillian Ambev, they own the Tennants brewery in Glasgow and a large lager one in Magor ,Wales . They own Stella Artois ,Hoegarden, Leffe, Staropramen, Bass, Boddingtons and Flowers among others.
No 3 is Coors UK who have the old Burton on Trent breweries of Bass , Worthington and Ind Coope plus some smaller ones. They own Carling , Hancocks, Stones, M&B,Worthington and Caffrey's.
No 4 is Carlsberg uk they have the lager place in Northampton and Tetley's in Leeds.
these are the big 4 all multi -nationals.
There are 2 smaller british breweries, Marston's plc who own Marston's ,Bank's and Jenning's , they have just taken over the Ringwood brewery, all 4 are still in operation unlike those of their rival Greene King plc who own Morland, Ruddles, Ridley's,Tolly cobbold and Hardy's & Hanson's all of which are closed.
