G.H.MUMM champagne??!

Question:

G.H.MUMM champagne??

I have 2 bottles of this champagne given to my by a customer of mine. They are both cordon rouge. What kind of shelf life does this have. Should it be opened sooner than later? It's my understanding that some should be opened sooner than later. Is this a run of the mill champagne of more "special"?

Answers:

G.H. (George Hermann) Mumm is French Champagne, and Cordon Rouge is a non-vintage brut and a blend. It is a solid dry Champagne that costs about $30-35 per bottle. While it is a solid bottle of Champagne, it is not a "special" Champagne like Cristal or Dom, if that's what you mean by "special" vs "run of a mill".

Since it is non-vintaged, it can be drank now or can be kept for a few years.
