How do you make tomato curry?


Answers:
This serves about 4 and takes 40-45 mins. of preparation

Tomatoes - 4 Large
Curry Leaves - 10 leaves
Mustard Seeds - A pinch
Cumin Seeds - A pinch
Asfestodia - A pinch
2 Dry Red Chillies
2 Green Chillies chopped in 4 large pieces
ginger- cut in little pieces
Turmeric - a pinch
A teaspoon of oil
Boil Tomatoes till the skin starts to peel.
Remove from Fire and Put the Tomatoes in the mixer and blend pour through a seive so that the seeds separate from the liquid.

In a pan pour a teaspoon of oil add mustard when the mustard starts popping add cumin and curry leaves, red chillies and asfestodia.
Add the green chillies, ginger and turmeric.

Then add the tomato liquid and salt.

Let it boil for about 5 minutes and the curry is ready.

You can keep blend the water the tomato was cooked in if you don't want to curry to be very thick.

If you want a slightly different taste you can add a tablespoon of chick peas flour when blending the tomatoes in the mixer.

Red tomatoes - 3

Salt - rqd
Coconut - 1 cup
Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
Shallot - 3
Turmeric Powder - a pinch
Chilli Powder - ? tsp
Coconut oil - 2 tb sp
Mustard - 1 tsp
Curry Leaves - 1 stem
Shallot - 1 tsp


Cut the tomatoes into small pieces. Boil the Green Chilli (chopped in two pieces) tomatoes and salt with water. Grind coconut, cumin seeds, chilly powder, turmeric powder, shallots.

Add the mixture to the smashed Tomatoes, let it boil and remove from fire.

Heat oil in a pan, splutter mustard seeds, add chopped shallots and curry leaves and sauté well. Pour this to the tomato curry.

THAKKALI MORU CURRY:::

Tomato and onion cooked with coconut paste and yoghurt

SERVES:4

INGREDIENTS:

Tomato - 3 nos
(chopped)
Onion(big) - 1 no
(sliced)
Curry leaves - A few
Chilly powder - 1/2 tsp
Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
Yoghurt/Curd - 1 cup
Salt - As reqd
Grated coconut - 1 cup
Cumin seeds(Jeerakam) - 1/2 tsp

For seasoning:-
Oil - 3 tbsp
Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
Fenugreek(Uluva) seeds - A pinch
Red chillies(Kollamulaku) - 2 nos
Curry leaves - A few

Preparation Method :-

1)Cook tomatoes and onion in 2 cups of water along with chilly powder, turmeric powder, salt and curry leaves.

2)Grind together grated coconut and cumin seeds to a smooth paste by adding about 1/2 cup of water.

3)When the tomato and onion is cooked, add the coconut paste and boil for 2 - 3 mins.

:- You can add more water depending on the consistency required.

4)Add the yoghurt and keep stirring for 1 min so that it doesn`t split.

5)When done, remove from flame.

6)Heat oil in a pan or a kadai.

7)Add mustard seeds, fenugreek seeds, broken red chillies and curry leaves.

8)After the seeds splutter, pour this into the curry.

:- Serve with hot rice and pappadum.

BREAD KOFTA CURRY :::

Recipe Fried bread and potato dumplings in spicy tomato onion curry

SERVES:4

INGREDIENTS::

For the koftas:
Bread slices - 3 nos
Potato - 1 no
Salt - As reqd
Green chillies - 2 nos
Chilly powder - 1 tsp

For the gravy:
Tomatoes - 4 nos
Onion - 1 no
Chilly powder - 1 tsp
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
Yoghurt/Curd - 1 tbsp
Oil - 3 tbsp
Coriander leaves for garnishing

For grinding:
Onion - 2 tbsp
Garlic pods - 3 nos
Ginger - A small piece
Garam masala powder - 1 tsp

Preparation Method:::

For making the koftas:
1)Pressure cook potato, peel and mash nicely.

2)Soak bread in little water and squeeze out water from the slices.

3)Mix together mashed potatoes and bread by adding salt, green chillies and chilly powder.

4)Heat oil in a pan.

5)Make small balls from the prepared bread and mashed potato dough, flatten a little bit and fry till golden brown.

For making the gravy:
1)Heat oil in a pan.

2)Add chopped onions and fry till translucent.

3)Add ground masala and fry till oil separates.

4)Add yoghurt and fry for a while.

5)Add chilly powder and turmeric powder and fry for another minute.

6)Add tomatoes.

7)After a while, add about one cup of water and boil till the gravy becomes thick.

8)Add prepared koftas just before serving.

9)Garnish with finely cut coriander leaves

EASY PURI WITH TOMATO CURRY:::

SERVES: 4

INGREDIENTS::

For Puri:-
Wheat flour - 2 cups
Vegetable oil - 1/2 tbsp
Warm water - 3/4 cup
Oil - 3 cups
Salt - to taste

For curry:-
Oil - 1 tbsp
Onion(sliced) - 3 cups
Tomato - 2 nos
(chopped)
Chilly powder - 1 Tsp or as reqd
Salt - As reqd


Preparation Method
For Puri:-
1)Slowly add about 3/4 cup warm water into the wheat flour and mix it just enough to form a firm dough, and knead till its smooth.

2)Cover it with a cotton fabric rinsed in water and keep it for 30 mins.

3)Remove the fabric and mix it once again and divide into small balls of about golf-ball size.

4)Roll them out like chappathi on an oiled board.

5)Heat oil in a wok or sauce pan.

6)Fry the puri one at a time, holding them under the oil on the first side until they puff.

7)Turn and fry till light brown and drain and keep it on tissue paper so that oil is drained out.

:- Serve as soon as possible.

For tomato curry:

1)Heat the oil in a pan or a kadai.

2)Add onions and mix it till it becomes soft.

3)Add chilly powder and after 5 seconds, add tomatoes and keep stiring till the tomatoes and onions break.

4)Add salt and mix it till the curry is half its quantity.

:- Serve it with puris.
