Mixing drinks?!

Question:

Mixing drinks?

This probably sounds like a ridiculous question but...
I didn't use to be a big drinker and so missed out on all sorts of teenage drinking education! I don't really understand about mixing drinks - people tell you it's dangerous and you should never mix alcohols etc, but then there are thousands of cocktails and all sorts of mixed drinks which are served everywhere and are very popular... so what's with all this mixing?! When is it okay and when is it not?

Answers:
You are probably thinking of the old addage "Beer before liquor, never sicker, liquor before beer, never fear..." which is based on the idea that mixing different types of alchohol might make you sick. However, mixing hard liquor with other ingredients is a normal, everyday thing to make everything from martinis to margaritas and every other type of cocktail you could imagine.

When done in moderation mixing different types of drinks is perfectly fine. It's also important to eat something before you drink and be careful if you are on any medication.

There's nothing wrong with mixing drinks, moderation is the key. If you drink too much of anything you'll get sick.

Mixing alchohols can lead to a gnarly hangover. Best to stick with either clear alcohol or brown alcohol.

I have found in 44 years of social drinking that I can mix any hard liquor's, but cant mix beer an wine together or with hard liquor.
