Now what should a lady do in such circumstances?
DRINK Champagne! OK its too expensive. Drink Spanish Cava.

The semi-seco is sweet enough and nobody will laugh.

The brands to go for in the UK are Freixenet, Segura Viudas, Codorniu, Juve & Camps (expensive), and Monistrol (from Tesco)

Catalans (male & female) in the north east of Spain will quite happily go through a meal drinking nothing else.

Have toiled en el vineyard.

try muscat, not cheap though

Reunite Lambrusco for red or D'oro for white.

boones farm was a fav of mine many many moons ago!

reisling is good!

There is a red Greek wine that is very sweet. (I think it is more of a desert wine) but it is very nice.

It's called Mavrodaphne of Patras. It is usually available in supermarkets.

How about a sherry, or a marsala, or a spaetlese, gewurztraminer, a muscat, late harvest. Try this link:

Try buckfast its made by the monks of buckfast abbey I recommend a bottle with a high number ( over 19 ) its best served chilled

Australian Browns Brothers Tarragon

i will find the name of it, but it's one of those wines that makes you love chocolate endlessly

All muscats and rieslings are very sweet & fruity; also anything advertised as a "desert wine", and if you can find them--things like blueberry wine etc.

well this is a cheap wine but its the best its peach shardenee (not sure of the spelling)
I absolutly adore it, when my family comes down from England we always open a few bottles of it and drink it with our dinner. This probably is not your cup of tea but it is a very sweet and fruity wine.

I know a lot of sweet, fruity wines but they're all desert wines and most of them are rather expensive. I'd say a Canadian Icewine, Hungarian Tokaji (5 or 6 puttonyos) or French Sauturne would be a good choice. Other options could be anything listing "botrytis" on the label. You might also try Australian "Ice Wine" which is a lot cheaper but less complex than the Canadian version. There is of course German Eiswein, but a lot of those need to be cellared for 5-10 years to make them drinkable.

For non-desert wines you could try German whites which are typically sweet and somewhat fruity. Maybe try an Italian sparkling wine with "Dolce" on the label as this will be sweet.

Try Liebfraumilch, it is a German wine that is sweet but not like a desert wine. Blue Nun is a well known one.

I agree Muscat (especially from the Roussillion region of France) is the ultimate sweet, fruity wine. You can also try a Gewurtztraminer (either an Australian or an Alsace, although I find that the Alsace Gewurtztraminer is drier), however it is a little stronger (alcohol content).

Some Rieslings can be real high in sugar content too, making them really sweet and they are fruity. Usually it is the cheapest Riesling that has the highest sweetness content.

And last but not least, you can also try a Liebfraumilch, this is really cheap, really sweet, fruity and like the ones above can be enjoyed with a meal.

I hope this helped you.

Try a Reisling, you can go quite expensive but starting price about £4 look out for Hungarian wines
Or what about a rose always far too easy to drink.
However if it's for you to drink always buy what you like - what's the point drinking something to impress others that tastes disgusting to you!

Try Almaden's Mountain Rhine Wine.

Tokay,a world-famous Hungarian wine. Real Tokay, which is very rare, is one of the best white wines. It is exported by the
government in long -necked bottles of 5.0dl. Its bouquet &
unforgettable taste justify its reputation of being one of the best wines in the world.
Alternatively, Chateau d'Yquem, magnificent wine of Sauternes. Of rich golden colour , delicately fragrant aroma,
incomparable smoothness. Its quality is never less than perfect. But, In poor years simply sold as under regional
appellation, i.e. Sauternes.
Suggest go for a Sauternes......!
Ex Sommelier, Cafe Royal Cellars, W1

Piesporter or Liebfraumilch are both sweet German wines and cheap too - around £3 a bottle at most supermarkets

yellowtail shiraz - love it!!

Marsala wines are a dessert wine and very yummy! try one of these!

Dubonnet Rouge

(Vin Santo ... a dessert wine ....diff.
labels....good with biscotti)

My favorites? Alice White Lexia is #1. Followed by St. Julian Niagara is delicious, and there has never been a person that I have offered this to that didnt' love it. I think the Niagara is my favorite, although the Lexia is more easily found. As you have already been told, most gewurztraminer wines are just what you are looking for, and in my experience, there are some incredible Michigan wines, but that could be in part due to my geographic location close to Michigan ;) Bottom line: my favorites in white sweeter wines are Alice White Lexia and St. Julian Niagara :)
