Answers:

In the Czech Republic, horka lihovina means bitter spirit. It's a kind of liquor called absinthe sold under several Czech brand names, and also many other European brands.Absinthe is made with herbs and sometimes wormwood.Thujon is a chemical that comes from the wormwood that makes the absinthe especially bitter and supposedly gives absinthe a hallucinogenic quality. The European Union allows 10mg/kg of thujon. The Czech brands are known for high levels of thijon.I have never tried it(maybe someday)but it must be very pungent,as no sweeteners are used.Adding sugar just before drinking is part of absinthe culture-see link.
