Where can you find out when a particular drink was invented? What books say??

Could you do this: Find the oldest drink books you can find and see if a particular recipe is in there, so u know roughly when it was invented, ??? or LIKE THIS?: Simply get a hold of a book that straight out tells you the history of all the drinks in it, trouble is, are there any books that tell you when a particular cocktail drink came to exist? Has anyone ever seen a cocktail drink book going into the details of a cocktail's history like this?
