What happens if you try to order a drink at a bar and you are under age?!

Question:

What happens if you try to order a drink at a bar and you are under age?

do they just tell you to leave or is there a more severe punishment?

Answers:
Cops will arrest you. Your parents will be called, and you may end up in juvenile hall.

...but if you are >18, you may have to spend a night (just one night) in jail (prison is longterm, jail is short term).

Oh, I realized that there are bars inside restaurants. Yeah, only if you are in an 21s-only bar will the abovementioned happen. If you are at a restaurant, they will probably just tell you to leave.

If they ask you for id, say oops, you forgot it and order a coke instead.

Depends on where u try, everyplace is different. I would avoid alcohol tho....it only leads to DUI's....which leads to court.....which leads to probation and a revoked license

either they give it to you or they don't. they will not call the secret underage drinker cop squad. if you are a cute girl, your chances of getting a drink increase quite a bit (if the bartender is male)...

It depends. When I worked at a number of places in CA, you would be carded and then either asked to leave or refused alcohol service. If you were in a nightclub type situation, you would be asked to leave and then probably escorted out by security.

Well depending on what bar you may get kicked out. But other than that there is not any other punishment unless you are actually drinking at the bar. Also depends on the time of day (here anyway). If its after 9pm no minors allowed at all!

I think you would get arrested

If they're jerks about it when you say "oops, I forgot my ID" they can call the cops and the cops can come and basically issue you a suspicion warning, which basically means that you have to show proof that you are over the age of 21 or you will get in some deep trouble. It's kinda like if you get pulled over and don't have your license on you. The cop may ask for your SSN or he/she may try to find some other way of identifying you.

The punishment varies from state to state, but I think it's a federal law that the punishment possibilities have to be posted in plain view of customers somewhere at the bar.

However, I've seen a ton of people who I could tell were underage ask for drinks and the bartender just told them to leave when they pulled the "oops, I forgot" scenario. I've never seen the bartender call the cops.

Depends on where u go and what kind of mood the bartender is in..... he might just ask for ID. And when he asks for urs you just do the whole.... "oops i forgot it" shyt....... he'll know ur underaged, but word of advice get out of there before ppl report u

YOU get arrested and the owner of the place gets a fine....................drink water its healthier and safer

They make a big deal about it.

One time I was in a restaurant with a bunch of friends having dinner for a friend who was moving away.

After we all ordered something to drink, the waiter started staring at me a lot and he seemed nervous. Then he was talking to the manager and they came over and asked me for ID.

I didn't have anything with me because I only brought money to pay for my share of the bill. I was starting to get nervous like maybe they think they saw me on America's Most Wanted or something. I tried to laugh it off and asked why they wanted to see my ID but it seemed to make the manager mad.

Then he said in a really crabby voice: Are you over 18 otherwise we can't serve you alcohol!

Anyway, people at my table started laughing their heads off because they thought it was a joke.

And the manager asked me if I had asked the waiter for
a beer.

And I said no and he looked all confused and looked at the waiter like he didn't know what to say.

The waiter was so positive that I ordered beer and he kept saying that I ordered beer.

A friend at my table said that everybody at the table heard my order and I didn't order a beer. I didn't order a beer and that he probably misunderstood because I am only 15.

Anyway, I never got my rootbeer and I never went back to there again.

And they should at least have salt in the salt shaker because it really bugged me to have that dumb idiot come back to our table with salt.

Look good.. if they ask, get your fake ID out...cause u know they only look at the age and barely glimpse the picture. Or search your pockets, say you forgot it... and order something else instead. its important to order a soda instead or you'll so obvious if u walk away...

i think u'd get thrown out in my opinion, im havent gotten into that situation.

They'd say nice try. Usually, if you don't look that young they might serve you, but again they may ask for your ID, and if you're underage, they will recommend you milk or soda.

if a bar serves a minor alcohol it has a severe repercussion against the bar and the minor for even being in a bar. i do not recommend any minor for trying to go in a bar for any reason
