What is the difference between Ruby Port Wine & Red Wine?!

Question:

What is the difference between Ruby Port Wine & Red Wine?

Answers:
A red wine is any wine made from a "red" varietal grape (or a blend of such grapes,) that has been pressed and fermented with the skins (for varying amounts of time) to add the color and tannins that mark a red wine. Red wines are vinified at 10-14% alcohol.
Ruby port is a very specific red wine:
1) It comes of the Port or Porto region of Portugal and is produced by a blend of grapes as set out by Portuguese wine laws.
2) It is "fortified" (brandy is added before the fermentation process is complete) leaving the wine both sweet and high (15-10%) in alcohol.
3) The wine is blended, that is it is not a product of a single vintage, but produced by a famous (or not so famous) Port solera out of their wines of various years. The term "ruby" indicates it is a blend of younger (less than 20 years) vintages selected for their clear red color and "fruit."
