How long is red wine good for after it opened and left with cork pushed back in?!

Question:

How long is red wine good for after it opened and left with cork pushed back in?

I need a glass of wine badly right now. All the booze stores are closed. I have a bottle of merlot, opened about 10 days ago, left on the shlf with the cork stuck back in it. Is it safe to still drink? I'm sure it might be a little bitter, but is it safe? Will I be running to the bathroom a few hours later if I drink it?

Answers:
2 -3 days at most
when you open wine and dont drink all of it, pour it into ice cube trays and freeze, next time someone is making, a stew, casserole or spag bol, add a few cubes to enhance the flavour
ssaves throwing it away TEN days later
dont drink it

It's safe to drink but it might taste like vinegar.

It will be safe, but probably not the best you've ever had. The Roman legionaries used something equivalent, a vinegary wine, as standard fare, and wouldn't have dreamed of doing without it.

if its only a 750ml bottle, and assuming didnt open it alone, why wasnt it gone 10 days ago?

its probably safe to drink though. not a tasty as when you first opened it, but still safe.

4 to 6 days before it looses flavor

cool,i was wondering that myself!

After you open a bottle of red wine and need to save the rest of it, simply recork it and put in the fridge. It will stay fresh for about 5 days.
When you are ready to drink it, remove from the fridge and leave at room temperature for about 20 minutes or so.
