I would say i agree with most of these recipes listed- but a few notes to consider...first, go for class- in other words skip the fizzy drinks! and avoid too much sugar... if you allow the ingredients to marinate, the sugars in the fruits will get the drink plenty sweet as the fruit breaks down.
keep in mind, this isn't kiddie sodapop or koolaid slurpies. think "bullfights and picnics in the south of spain"- not "college dorm room party".... it's supposed to taste like a fruited, chilled wine. i also don't use gin or vodka or any of the other suggestions- i use brandy- try e and j. also- an apple or two is a good addition. tell your guests not to just drink the wine and liquid and toss out the fruit in their cup- thats a big mistake- the fruit's fibrous, porous nature will absorb most of the alchohol in the mix- in other words- chew the fruit and suck the juice from it. also, when in doubt, add more fruit! one more thing, i try to have 2 large containers- like a cooler and then a bucket- the ice goes in the cooler d the bucket sits on top of the ice- this will keep iit cold without diluting it as the ice melts-bring a soup ladle to serve-floating ice in the glass to keep the serving cold. lastly- depending on the size of the party, make a really large quantity of this stuff- in the heat of the summer it will go incredibly fast! one last thing- serve with FOOD! this will get people drunk, and they won't feel it coming- so keep their bellies full of tapas or barbecued chicken...
INGREDIENTS FOR A PARTY OF 10:
10 Bottles of red wine (Cab, Merlot, Shiraz) (in los angeles we have trader joe's and they sell bottles of redwine for 2 or 3 dollars apiece)
3 large Lemons cut into wedges
2 Oranges cut into wedges
5 Limes cut into wedges
2 red apples cored and chunked
3 Tbsp sugar
1/4 can frozen orange juice Concentrate
8shots of E & J Brandy
1/2 small basket strawberries sliced
1/2 small basket of raspberries
(i don't actually slie my berrys much- the alchohol makes them soggy fast, and they turn mushy if they're sliced)

Classic Spanish Sangria

1 lemon
1 lime
1 orange
1 1/2 cups rum
1/2 cup white sugar
1 (750 milliliter) bottle dry red wine
1 cup orange juice
DIRECTIONS
Have the fruit, rum, wine, and orange juice well chilled. Slice the lemon, lime and orange into thin rounds and place in a large glass pitcher. Pour in the rum and sugar. Chill in refrigerator for 2 hours to develop the flavors.
When ready to serve, crush the fruit lightly with a wooden spoon and stir in the wine and orange juice. Adjust sweetness to taste.
I've always gotten the little single serving sizes of wine to start with.
I put 2 merlot
1 cabernet
Squeeze some lime, lemon, and orange juices in it.
3-5 packs of splenda (or any sugar substitute)
. pour all this in a pitcher, add some ice, and top of with 7-up or Sprite.
... This can also be done with white wines as well.
this is how I make it .. might not be really typical, but it tastes really good:
1.5 L Red wine
200 g sugar
Rum ... well ... I'm not sure how much ... 50 ml, I think
3 large oranges, peeled and sliced
pineapple, from a can ... and the juice from the can
I dip fruit into rum and juice with sugar, and leave it to stay over night, and add wine the next day.

Best Party Sangria Recipe
This Sangria recipe is perfect for big summer parties - always a favorite, you may consider doubling the recipe.
INGREDIENTS:
1 Bottle of red wine (Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Rioja, Zinfandel, Shiraz)
1 Lemon cut into wedges
1 Orange cut into wedges
1 Lime cut into wedges
2 Tbsp sugar
Splash of orange juice
2 Shots of gin
1 Cup of sliced strawberries or raspberries (may use thawed or frozen)
1 Small can of diced pineapples (with juice)
4 Cups ginger ale
PREPARATION:
Pour wine in the pitcher and squeeze the juice wedges from the lemon, orange and lime into the wine. Toss in the fruit wedges (leaving out seeds if possible) and pineapple then add sugar, orange juice and gin. Chill overnight. Add ginger ale, berries and ice just before serving. If you'd like to serve right away, use chilled red wine and serve over lots of ice. However, remember that the best Sangrias are chilled around 24 hours in the frig. - allowing the flavors to really marinate into each other.
