Best plans for a Kegarator.?!

Question:

Best plans for a Kegarator.?

im trying to build a home bar in my basement, and i need kegarator plans

Answers:
the average kegarator with the tap on top is around $400-$500 and that depends on what style you get..I have found it easeir and cheaper to make your own. The supplies are easy and cheap. The hardest part is finding a fridge you want to use. We called sears and talked to the guys that install regular fridges..Most of the time when they install a new one they get rid of your old one for free. If you arrange to buy it from the installation guys you can get a nice fridge for real cheap.

After that you have to get your parts. The cheapes place i found them was at Kegworks.com There are other ones out there that might work better for you. Before you buy though you have to figure out what type of beer you will be running. Different beers require special parts. Guiness requires a special spot and runs off nitrogen. Imports need a special tap.
Once you get your parts there are some steps to follow.
1-reinforce the fridge where the keg will sit.(full keg is a lot of weight)
2 Find the spot where you will drill for your shaft.
3. find a spot to run your air line.(its best to keep your Co2 outside it the warm air allows it expand. If you keep it in the fridge the cold air will keep it more dense)
4 Install drip tray and lines (We ran ours back into the fridge and into a bucket.cut down on the smell)
5 install a thermomitor.(try to keep the fridge aroud 34 degrees.)

get an old refrig and drill a hole in the side and put a tap
thats the redneck way...LOL

Buy a used refrigerator - a tough one at that (you can find em around $200 bucks). Make sure it can fit the standard size keg. Buy the guts from a beer/soda distributor. Meaning the the plastic hoses, a bottle for CO2 that will fit in the fridge and the serviceable attachments. Its not rocket science. The actual tap and handle can be attached to the front of the fridge by rigging it through the door once you have drilled a hole. Just caulk around it to seal it up. Its a fun project for frat boys or a buddy's house where his significant other will allow them to have one. Have fun painting it with your fav college or professional football teams colors. Or whatever. Make sure you consume plenty of beer while doing your project but have the sense not to hurt yourself when moving it, stocking it and/or affixing the tap.
