1961 Latour
I had it in 1996. I don't know how it could be improved. It was a perfect wine. Even at that age it was still somewhat youthful. It was a monumental, life changing wine.

My notes from the tasting:
"Cedar, truffles, saddle leather, licorice, black currants, smoke, river stones, roasted herbs, baking spice. Massive texture dripping with viscosity but firm ripe tannins and solid levels of acidity. Incredible balance and integration throughout. The best wine I've ever had. I don't think I'll ever have a better one in my life. A legend."

11 years later and that still holds true but at $8-10K a bottle now I doubt I'll ever get another crack at one.
