Just say from a local grocery store

Answers:

The best thing to do is to attend wine tasting events or dinners.

The problem is that every one has different taste and liking, so what works for one doesn't always work for others. Wine is a very diverse drink that can be match in various ways. The traditional "Red for red meat, white for white meat" doesn't hold up anymore, with the variety of wines and variety of food. So, you need to try them out to decide what is best for you.

Various restaurants have wine dinners, so you can learn how wines are paired with food by the "professionals" in the business. After you have done that for a while, you will learn the characters of wine and how wine and food can enhance each other. Only then can you have a true appreciation of how to pair wine with certain food.

If you want a quick advice on what wine goes with what food from the store, I'd recommend for you to go to a grocery store with better wine selection and has a salesperson devoted to wine department. Some stores hire a "wine expert" of varying quality, so you will have to get to know them to see what they are like.

Personally, I'd pick out wine based on how the food is prepared. Heavy red for spicy food, light red for medium flavored food, white for lighter/less flavorful food.
