Does anyone know what a martini is made of?!

Question:

Does anyone know what a martini is made of?

i need to do this for a science experiment so if you could help me out it would be a big thanks. if there's more than one kind of martini, can you tell me what some others are and just tell me the ingredients of the original. ty

Answers:
Traditional Martini = Gin and a little dry Vermouth, plus a green olive.

The current trend is to use vodka in a "martini" and different flavors... apple-tini, chocolate-tini, etc.

I personally think it's bogus to use vodka. It's like little kids wanting to play grown-up and sophisticated by making a drink that's easier to drink. It's like calling Martenelli's Sparkling Cider, apple champagne, which is totally bogus, but it makes people feel grown-up.

I guess you can tell what I think... lol.

Gin and Dry Vermouth, now as for the garnish this is a debatable thing, its all up to you, olive, twist of lemon, onion. its your taste. Oh yes, dont use cheap gin

DRY VERMOUTH,GIN,REGULAR MARTINI

many dings

There are different types of martinis. The first is made with gin usually just gin and a little vermouth. Also vodka martini made the same way just with vodka and vermouth. If someone wants a dry matini it would be made with mostly just the alcohol and a lemon twist as a garnish. Also now there are more involved martinis made with all sorts of interesting add ons. But these are the tradition old martinis.

vodka and olive juice. if you want it dirty it's less strong.

I like mine shaken not sitrred

Gin or vodka, vermouth and an olive.

You could also make a Vodka martini. Vodka and a tiny spot of dry Vermouth.

A "Dirty" Martini has olive juice in it. If you use a pickled onion as a garnish instead of an olive it is called a "Gibson." If you get rid of the Vermouth and add lime juice to the Vodka you have a "Gimlet" martini.

What kind of science experiment require the recipe for a martini?
