What is the difference between single molt and double molt whiskey?!

Question:

What is the difference between single molt and double molt whiskey?

Answers:
Catty...that's funny...

"Single Malt" means a single malting, or single batch of malted barley. One single malt can come from many stills and barrels. A "Single Single" means from one barrel. They can still be watered down to a constant alcohol content. The purist varieties are "Cask Strength Single Single". That is booze right out of the barrel.

Years in the business.

Single molt only loses it's feathers once a year. Double molt does it twice.

it is actually malt, malt whisky means that whisky is made from malt (sprouted grain) instead of grain. Single malt means malt whisky that is only from one distiller

There is no such thing as a double malt whisky!

There is either malt, or single malt. A single malt is just that, it is one batch of whisky that is bottled and sold from one vat.
The rest are blends of whiskies from several vats, the flavors vary considerably depending upopn the process that was used in the making of the brew. When these whiskies are blended you finish up with a distinctive blend, or it can be a way of offloading some of the not so successful distillations.
