Warm wine...has anyone tried it before?

drunk effect...is it the same as regular wine or taste like any fruit juice drink/


Answers:
Many if not all wine cultures have a mulled wine that can go by many different names. Ideal in the cold of winter and with hearty fare it's a great treat. never use a fine wine for this, since the warming process will destroy all the nuance. Also never bring it to a full boil, but rather simmer it with what ever spices and dried fruits you prefer.
My favorites are: Cloves, cinnamon sticks, star anise, raisens, dates, dried berries and what ever else I might have around.

There is no correct way or perfect wine for making it, though I do prefer wines with low tannins and rich fruit flavors. The key is to play with it and find out what works for you.

Red wine is supposed to be room temperature. White wine not so good warm. White Zin....well if you drink that then you might as well go get some Bartles and James.

If you mean Mulled Wine - that is warm wine with added spices - then that can be pretty potent. It can also be deceptively "moorish". Ordinary plonk that is served a slightly higher than room temperature will be about the same. Wine that has been heated to a point where the alcohol begins to evapourate might be slightly weaker.

I thinks it's a popular drink for those staying in the snow. A full red wine is usually placed near the fire place to gently warm. I'm told they often put herbs/spices in the wine to give it a fuller flavour. Hmm a nice cosy fire place, bottle of wine and a cold snowy night - sounds pretty good.

Well i am from Germany and we have a Wine over there we drink hot called Gluewein.I myself didn`t like it to much but than i don`t like wine in general unless it is a Burgandy.We don`t drink very many drings cold over there at all .

A warm spiced or fruited wine can be absolutely delicious, especially on a chilly winter evening or for a holiday party. You must take care not to boil the brew, or the alcohol is lost and flavor is compromised.

Glogg is a wonderful heated spiced wine from my home country. There are recipes online. Swedes know how to stay warm in the Winter.

Vin Brulè:
1 bottle of dry red wine
2 clove spikes
a stick of cinnamon
2 orange wedges
2 lemon peels
1 cup of sugar
Put all in to a pot and heat to mealt the sugar - do not boil.
Drink hot... with friends.
