What's a good value, good quality English wine?

Tesco branches stock local English wines, so it all depends on where you are.
Wines from Chapel Down, and the 'Curious Grape' are fairly widely distributed.
But whatever English wine your local Tesco has can be recommended, since Tesco's wine buyers are the very best and they will not stock a wine that does not meet their standards.
If an English wine is on Tesco's shelf, then it has passed the most exacting selection criteria. Just read the back label and make sure it is the style you are looking for.
You won't be disappointed.

banrock station colombard chardonnay (white) ￡4.74 a bottle.nice crisp and tangy easy drinking.
organic terra viva rosso (red) ￡3.78 a bottle .warm fruity easy drinking
both from tesco, they do several english wines
Had to laugh at the one recommending Banrock Station when you clearly asked for an English Wine!
English wines are building up a very good reputation and have won several awards at international festivals. They are all good value for what you get but none are cheap I'm afraid. Tesco have a small selection and occassionally they have some offers but unlikely to get one for under 6 or 7 quid at the bottom end of the scale. Good luck.

Camel Valley wines are very good and won awards. They are based in Cornwall. (I notice you asked for English wines during English Wine Week - some of the other answers haven't got their geography right!)
