Is it possible to buy a keg of beer, and then dispense it into bottles yourself? (to save money).?!

Question:

Is it possible to buy a keg of beer, and then dispense it into bottles yourself? (to save money).?

If I bought a keg, then dispensed it into 12oz. bottles and capped them, would they be equivalent to bottles bought from the store? Seems like it could be a great to save some money, since kegs are so much cheaper than bottles...

Answers:

Yes but you need to sterilize the bottles and have a good capper. Brewing supply dealers will have the caps and cappers as well as sanitizer. How much you treally save I don't know. You will probably be told that the beer will be flat but I doubt it. The beer in a keg is generally at higher pressure than bottled so the loss off carbonation when you fill the bottles should not be noticeable if you cap them quickly.
