..."Beer of the Month" type clubs??!
..."Beer of the Month" type clubs??
Hello!
For Father's Day I would like to sign my dad up for one of those "Beer of the Month" club-things... (you know: where they send him a 6-pack of whatever deluxe beer from around the world once a month...)
What are some good companies to use? Any BAD ones you know about that I shouldn't use?
...Thanks! ; D

Hi I.B.T.Y!
Happy to help -- There are several good ones out there, depending on your budget. Let me give you two examples.
On the more conventional end of things, there is www.monthlyclubs.com. Their beer club is a very reliable, professional club offering a selection of 12 beers/month, typically from 2-4 different brewers (domestic or imported/domestic) You won't find anything really unusual here, but the selections are almost always good, solid brews. You'll pay around $40/month for this one, including shipping.
On the higher end, there is Michael Jackson's (not THAT Michael Jackson) Rare beer club. http://rarebeerclub.beveragebistro.com/... This one offers 750ml bottles (3 per month) of a hard to find, or particularly high-end beer, either domestic or imported, depending on the month. This one will run you more like $60/month or more ... depending on the options you choose. Higher price = better beers.
One important note for you though - each of these mail-order clubs will typically require an in-person, adult signature to drop off the package. If you have it shipped somewhere where they have to drop it off, they generally won't and you'll have to go to the shipping Co.'s office to pick up the package. This isn't good because the longer the beer sits in a hot truck, or warehouse, the more likely it'll adversely effect the beer! Just thought I'd let ya know ...
Good luck!
