Making wine - separating after being corked?!

Question:

Making wine - separating after being corked?

OK - I've been making my own wine. I use whatever fruit I've got around, so I do mix and match. It tastes great - I love it and my friends love it.

I do strain it very well before bottling and corking, but I still notice that it separates after being corked. Is this because I'm using different kinds of fruit all together?

Thanks!

Answers:

If you mean sediment in the bottom of the bottles, it is a mixture of very fine fruit particles and yeast. You must filter the wine to be rid of all the really fine particles but they don't hurt anything. Just pour carefully so you dont end up with all that sediment in the last glass.
