How do I get a cork out of a bottle without a corkscrew?!

Question:

How do I get a cork out of a bottle without a corkscrew?

Answers:
ahhh i have been there!
we gouged chucks of cork out with a knife, then pushed the bit left back into the bottle
then got a sieve and strained the wine
a bit drastic but it worked!

get rabbit to nibble it out

Smash the bottle against a wall.

Push the cork in with a pencil or pen rather than pull it out wont do the wine any harm.

Very difficult. Push the cork into the bottle and it should be possible to pour out the contents

jam it cork down in the bottle with a stick or some thing or stab the cork with a scrissors or sharp knife and twist , might take a few minutes,,, enjoy have a glass for me

push the cork into the bottle, it's the only way I know how to do it without a corkscrew. use the handle of a wooded spoon or something equivalent.

maybe it would be best to go to the link!

suck like mad

Carefully take a knife..and I mean carefully..and push the cork into the bottle. It is unretrievable at that point, but you can pour around it. Another way, but I've only heard about this and have yet to attempt it, is to take the bottle with a folded towel, put the towel against the side of a wall/tree/etc. and gently bang the bottle against the hard surface. Eventually, it should pop. As I said, I've never tried this method. I am familiar with the knife one though. Salute!

Heat the bottle gently until the contents is hot, the cork will come out..

You never mentioned wanting to drink the contents after!

Force the cork down in you don't need it out to pour a drink
pen and hammer does the trick

I studied wine at university and read once that its possible to de-cork a bottle by way of a number of sharp taps to the base of the bottle whilst holding it upside down, with an object which shan't shatter the bottle like a shoe perhaps.

I've never tried it .. but good luck :)

Use a large wood screw.

Buy a screwtop bottle

Wooden spoon is ideal..place the handle on the cork and give the spoon end a heavy dunt with your hand or a hammer..drives the cork down into the bottle. Or..if you have a metal coat hanger you can fashion a crude corkscrew from its hook..good luck!

use a drill, i had to do this once since my guy friend didn't have a cork screw, drill a bit into the cork partially, then reverse the spin on it and pull at the same time, works great : )

Use a wood screw and a pliers.
Screw it into the cork, leave about 1/2 inch sticking up. Grip the head of the screw with the pliers and pull it out. Works every time if the screw is big enough.

In my drinking days (now long gone!!!) I used to sometimes have to use a stick or end of a tablespoon or wooden spoon. Stand the bottle firmly on the floor between feet and gently push down until cork goes into bottle.

For the first glass pour with the spoon handle in preventing the cork from blocking neck of bottle - after that it should be fine!

Amazing what ingenuity one can come up with when desperate!

Push the cork in the bottle, then use a shoe lace with a nice size knot on the end (shoe lace because its flat , any strong and fine cord will do), then seal the end of the bottle with your thumb, and tip it slightly till you fish the cork agaist the opening with the knot, pull gently untill the cork enters the opening and the just pull away...

it helps to wrap the cord aroung something (like the wooden spoon you used to push the cork in the first place)so you wont hurt your hand.

other wise just enjoy the wine with a cork floating in it...

Dead easy. Screw an ordinary screw into the cork and pull out with a pair of plyers. Have done this in desperation many times.
Enjoy.

push the cork in with a wooden spoon handle, Happy drinking.

use a screwdriver and a hammer.the things we do for a drink.

Warm the neck of the bottle with hot water (only the neck) to expand it a bit and then push the cork in. It won't hurt the wine.
