pasta w/ red sauce. red meats. spicy foods.
Kebabs, and Asiago cheese.
Italian food. Something with a red sauce and meat (like lasagna) along with a salad and crusty French bread.
Any pasta with Red Sauce (not white) is great with red wine. Also beef - so do a meat sauce with pasta, garlic bread salad. Perfect for red wine.
Dessert? Chocolate is the perfect pairing for red.
Any kind of beef will go well... You could class up a nice sirloin burger and go casual with a BBQ grill theme. I'm sure they would love to get in on the grilling action!
Nothing like a beef dish to go with red wine:
Beef Burgundy
This classic beef bouguignon is wonderful. We especially enjoy it on a fall or winter day. I typically reduce a significant portion of the cooking time by using the pressure cooker. Each pressure cooker is different, so you would need to refer to your pressure cooker instructions to adjust cooking time.

spaghetti w/ sausage or meatballs ... anything hearty like that.
If you have a grill, steaks are embarassingly easy to prepare and are a perfect match to red wine. It can be costly if you're feeding a lot of people though. Top each steak with blue cheese and add a baked potato and a salad (also easy)
OR
Buy some gnocci pasta (potato pasta) and cook it according to directions. melt some gorgonzola cheese with milk in a small pan til you have a thick cheesy sauce. Salt and pepper to taste, then add 1/2 teaspoon of sage. Toss the sauce with your gnocci. Serve it hot out of a big bowl with lots of french bread and olive oil and balsamic for dipping. Impress a crowd on the cheap!
Go get some short ribs, onions, mashed potatoes in a box, and a can of glory greens(the best greens). Slice the onion into big slices and throw them in the oven at 375 degrees with the short ribs(they are boneless and could be ate with your fingers) You could also marinade the short ribs in a teriachey sauce.(mmmmmmm) Follow the directions on the box of mashed potatoes which needs butter, milk and water. They only take 3 mins to make. Finally have the greens warming on the stove in a small pot. This will go perfect with red wine. Enjoy
Brown rib-eye, cut it into strips. Add McCormick's Hunter Sauce, following directions on the back of the package, and substitute Lambrusco for Burgundy. Serve over bow-tie pasta instead of angel hair. Deeeee-licious.
Hot steak salad. Get a good London broil or sirloin, grill it, slice it thin, pile it while warm on top of huge salads of lettuce, cucumber, avo, tomatoes, etc etc and pass some good dressings you've decanted into bowls with spoons. Pass around a bowl of crumbled blue cheese. They will love that they are getting Meat - and will actually be having something a bit healthier than they realise. Any decent red wine stands up to this summer meal. Add some warmed sourdough bread or rolls and you're done.
Pasta with red sauce and garlic bread! It will make anyone say "Your a great cook!" Remember good chefs never reveille they're secrets!!!!!!!!
Italian Pasta dishes with red sauce go well with red wine. But for a bunch of businessmen, I think you can't go wrong with steak!! Steak is actually really easy and quick to prepare. I love Rachael Ray's recipe for steak with cognac cream sauce. It takes me under 30 minutes..in fact, the steak part takes only about 10 minutes.

I like burgers made from ground lamb meat served with french fries or garlic mashed potatoes. Season the lamb with a little bit of the red wine and garlic salt. :-)
Stoffers lasagna.
Assuming there is no limitation of the foods being served, I would recommend a tri-tip rubbed (sparingly) with: 3 tablespoons garlic powder, 2 tablespoons salt, and 2 tablespoons ground black pepper. Cook it in a covered pan on medium heat for about 10-15 minutes each side. Once the meat is about halfway done, add 1 cup of water, 1/2 cup Burgandy wine, and one cube of beef boullion.
It creates a wonderfully moist, flavorful meat with a sauce you can use for dipping the meat in, or for cooking your vegetables with, etc. Just be sure to not do overkill with your rub, as it can get spicy fast. In essence, give the meat a light coating on the top and bottom only.... no "shake and bake" style coatings here. ;)
For a quick and easy side, simply pick up a few boxes of "Herb and Butter Pasta" (Farmhouse brand is good), and a bag of frozen "Stir Fry Vegetables" (Flav R Pac, prefered). Once the noodles are almost done, toss in vegtables to taste (remembering they will add water to your final product). From there, you could use some "Five Cheese Blend" to add a bit of bulk and flavor.
Also, a good salad never hurts, preferably Dole's "Spring Mix" and some Romaine lettuce with a vinegrette and suitable toppings.
Just think... most of it is all premade to a degree, and you'll still get rave reviews for basically doing nothing. Simply start the noodles when you flip the meat, and make the salad while the noodles are starting, and you'll have a three course meal in under 25 minutes at a cost of less than $25 per three people!
If you would like to do something really easy that isn't "typical" go with fish. Believe it or not many red wines do go with fish. It has to be something oily like salmon or tuna so that the red doesn't overwhelm. Since most of it is farm raised, nice fresh salmon can be found most anywhere anytime of the year for less than steaks or chicken. On a grill with some nice cherry wood or bronzed with a light Cajun seasoning would pair perfectly with almost any red. Both are fast and easy and present well. Salmon always goes well with asparagus which also is wonderful with red wine. Good Luck!
Beef, salmon, duck, lamb, and pasta all go well with red wine. For specific pairing of food with a varietal of wine visit: http://www.cheers2wine.com/food-and-wine...
