How to infuse fruit with alcohol?!

How to infuse fruit with alcohol?

I have heard of infusing fruit (watermelons, pineapple, cantalope, etc.) with alcohol but don't know how to or what kind of alcohol to use??


Answers:
You can pretty much use any clear liquor that you prefer, gin, tequila, vodka... but I have found that gin goes better with fruit especially pineapple. Just cut a hole in the fruit, plug it with the bottle of liquor, and let it slowly infuse the fruit or slowly pour the liquor in if you don't want to use the whole bottle. I have also heard of people using a melon baller to gut the melon and pouring the liquor over the melon balls, that way you can put different types on fruit together like a fruit salad including using canned fruit like pineapples.

I have heard that you can slice up pineapple and leave it out in the sun for a couple days to completely dry out. Then put the fruit into alcohol (vodka, etc) until it "come back to life" and is no longer dried out. You can then serve or freeze

All you do is pour the alcohol over the fresh fruit, cut up into a container if it's pinapples, cantelope, or something smallish, or just cut a 'lid' off and make a watermelon 'basket', fill with cut up watermelon and other fruit, and pour in the alcohol. Refrigerate for a few hours if you have time. You can use vodka, rum, anything that floats your boat in other drinks. Some people just make a hole in a watermelon, and pour the alcohol in, then you can roll the fruit around & it will be infused when you are ready to slice it.

Depending on which fruit you use, you can choose different complimantary alcohols. Pineapple and rum go well. Vodka has little to no taste, so that goes well with anything. You could use flavored rums, and vodkas also..ex coconut, berry flavors etc. For whole fruit, cut a small hole in the fruit, pour in alcohol slowly, and add more over time, the longer it sits, the more the alcohol is absorbed. Its fun to do it that way, but it's easier and a bit more practical to make a great fruit salad with all types of fruit, and add alcohol to that. An adult fruit salad if you will. Just let it sit for 4 or so hours....it marinates and is delicious!!! Have fun...and enjoy safely!

Buy a syringe with a large bore needle. Vodka is always a safe bet for injecting fruit. You can also experiment with liqueurs and even coolers!

I like to spike a watermellon with vodka...just cut a whole in the top and stand an open bottle in it...it will take about an hour but will infuse the fruit.

i love vodka....... vodka will go with anything because is not as strong as the other ones............

i would use everclear if you really want to get messed up, just take a 5th and cut a hole in the top of a watermelon and just stick the bottle in the hole
