Question about one beer being equal a glass of wine or mixed drink...?
How can that be if there is beer that is less than 3 % and also beer that is '6 point', about 6 percent? I'm kind of confused. Thanks.

12 oz of beer has the same amount of alcohol as 1 oz of liquor (80 proof or 40% alcohol by volume) which has the same amount of alcohol as a glass of wine (typically 14% alcohol by volume).
12 oz of whisky, or one pint, is like drinking a 12 pack of beer. It's just concentrated, by the distillation process... that cooks off all that unwanted water that makes you go to the bathroom every 5 mins in the fourth quarter of the football game...
because a serving of beer is 12-16 ounces and a serving of wine is 4-6 ounces, as for cocktails, you are mixing, for example, 1 ounce of an 80 proof vodka with 4 - 6 ounces of juice or mixer... Unless you're like me and drink wine from a highball or put three shots of vodka in one drink! :)
I'm confused about that, too. I don't drink beer or wine, just cocktails. My husband has told me over and over again how it works... something about it not being the volume of the drink, it's the percentage- I don't know. Maybe I should ask him BEFORE I drink.
The similarity between the drinks and their alcohol content is a "rule of thumb". Obviously 3% beer won't be the same as 6% beer, and neither can be similar to a mixed drink of greater size or alcohol content mixed in, but, as a "rule of thumb", they're all equal and are measured so when determining how long it will take someone to sober up. Mixed drinks typically include an ounce (40% normally) of hard alcohol. Or a series of liquors (20 and up)....plus soda, or whatever it is mixed with. Usually a total of 8 ounces. A beer is about 12 ounces with a varying percentage....3-5%. Wine is higher...20%. It depends on the portions in which it is served. A wine glass holds more than a shot class, and less than a beer bottle. A shot of tequila is the same as that same shot poured in a class with a healthy dose of Coke. A beer is in a larger portion, but has less alcohol.
A recent study did show that people were drinking more than they thought due to the size of glasses...especially margarita glasses and tumblers. When they thought they were having only one drink, they were actually consuming 2-3.

In the USA beer is limited to 3% alcohol. In Germany beer is 11%. ~
Wine is normally 11%, hard liquor is 40%, but there are exceptions like Wild Turkey and 75.5% Bacardi
If you mix any of these with something non alcoholic, calculate how many times of the alcohol part the whole drink is, and divide the alcohol percentage by that number. That'll give you the alcohol content of the mixed drink.
Well if you figure it out it comes to:
12 oz of 6% beer you get 0.72 oz of alcohol
6 oz of 12% wine you get 0.72 oz of alcohol
1 shot, 1 1/2 oz, of 40% liquior you get 0.6 oz of alcohol
Well to work this out what you do is get the amount of drink say 1 pint which is 468ml times by the abv or alcohol content say 3% then times by 0.001 = your answer which is units of drink in each drink. So its Q x ABV x 0.001.
