How to make a Mai Tai Singapore Sling?!

Question:

How to make a Mai Tai Singapore Sling?

I'm working in this bar and i'm getting **** for making these two drinks the way I do. I've looked on the internet and havn't found two recipes that match. If your a bartender how do you make them?

Answers:

Yeah people stink there's only so much you can do. Look at it like this...people will ask you why you make a drink one way. Obviously you want to make them the best way. You can either tell them "I like them best like this" or "This is the recipe" If you are going by a recipe then you need to use the original to win your argument.

These are the original recipes from the creators:

Singapore Sling
30ml Gin
15ml Cherry Brandy
120ml Pineapple Juice
15ml Lime Juice
7.5ml Cointreau
7.5ml Benedictine
10ml Grenadine
Dash of bitters
Pineapple and Cherry garnish

Mai Tai
2 ounces 17-year-old J. Wray Nephew Jamaican rum
1/2 ounce French Garnier Orgeat
1/2 ounce Holland DeKuyper Orange Curacao
1/4 ounce Rock Candy Syrup
juice from one fresh lime

Those are the ORIGINAL* recipes. The Mai Tai was invented by Trader Vic in 1944 and the Singapore Sling was invented by a bartender named Ngiam Tong Boon in 1936. If people don't like them then tell them they are making them wrong.

* while there is no doubt about who created the drinks over time there has been some question over the validity of the Singapore Sling recipe but either way they are the excepted models for each drink.
