Gluehwein can be made with white or red wine, no brandy added ! add sugar, cinnamon sticks, cloves, and lemon peel, and heat the wine, don't boil it, just warm slowly to let the spices flavor the wine. this is the traditional Austrian recipe for Gluehwein. they now also make a blend in a teabag you can add to the wine, it is not as good.
