That's STEEP, not SLEEP. And the answer is -as long as it takes for it to be the way you like it.

That's a personal preference. Start out with a light brew (a minute or two) and taste the flavors. Next time brew it a little longer to see if you like it better. Remember, strong tea stains the teeth more than coffee, wine or soft drinks.
You can make a "tincture" by pouring hot water, adding your tea, and cover for 3-5 minutes so the steam that 'wants' to evaporate, drops back into the cup. When you are making an herbal tea that has a medicinal effect, this will ensure that the inert ingredients that make you feel better, will remain in the tea. Also, if you brew a small pot of tea and want it to remain warm for up to an hour, wrap the teapot in a handtowel to keep it warm.

It depends on how you like your tea and also on the type of tea. Generally, you brew black tea 3-5 minutes and you brew green tea 2-3 minutes.
Over-brewing can make your tea taste bitter.

Depends on the type of tea. Anywhere from 1 minute to 10 minutes. The longer time is usually to get the full benefit from an herbal medicinal tea.

When I first started drinking tea I read that tea needed to steep for 10 minutes. I generally let tea steep that long if I've added a tea bag to hot water. If nothing else, it lets the full flavor come out and keeps me from scalding my tongue.

How strong do you like your tea? If you like a strong tea flavor, let it steep (I assume you mean steep not sleep) longer. If you like a lighter tea, well, you do the math.

I guess it does depend on the tea.
When i use throat coat or any other herbal tea from traditonal medicines i think its called, they reccomend you steep the tea 15-20 minutes and the longer you steep the tea, the stronger the tea will be.....but regular tea i would say 5-10 minutes.
Unless you like it light......
