What are the best brands of malt extract to use in homebrewing beer? Are there brands to stay away from?!

Question:

What are the best brands of malt extract to use in homebrewing beer? Are there brands to stay away from?

Answers:

As far as brand names, there aren't really any to "avoid at all cost." If your home brew supplier carries it, ask their opinion of the extracts they carry. Some people prefer to use dried malt extract (DME) over liquid (LME) because the liquid can sometimes (it's claimed) impart a bit of a "cooked" flavor to the beer because of the reduction process to make the extract.

"Coopers" is a widely known extract brand made in Australia by an actual brewery. They've got a reputation for being very good quality.
