Need a good rum drink but I'm not sure what I'm looking for?!

Question:

Need a good rum drink but I'm not sure what I'm looking for?

Want something sweet and creamy but not milk based. Tried rum diet coke and a splash of vanilla but it wasn't quite what I hoped it would be. Maybe cream soda? Any suggestions?

Sweet and creamy, I like mojito's but I want sweet and creamy not tart or citrusy.

The ice cream is a great idea. I also like the flavored rums.

Answers:

There is a rum called Crusan (from St. Croix) and they make a rum cream. The best way I can describe it is that it tastes like tropical bailey's (I know hard to imagine), but it is really good on the rocks. I bartended for over a decade, so here are some other recipes I used to make with Rum:

A Strap-on
1 part Crusan Rum Cream
1 part Crusan Black Strap Rum
Served on the Rocks

A Crusian Berry Bulldog (for my friend Christopher)
Tall Glass filled with ice
Mix
1 part Crusan Rum Cream
1/2 part Chambord Raspberry Liquor
1/2 part Malibu Rum
Fill with Cream Soda or Coke (depending on your taste)

Strawberry Heart throb (I made up the name)
1/2 part Malibu
1/2 part Captain Morgan
1 part strawberry liquor
fill with with equal parts pineapple juice and 7-up

Bubbling Kiss (another one of my great names)
Generally I served this as a martini, but do what you like
2 ounces Champagne (the sweeter the better)
splash of 7-up
1/2 ounce Red Alize (a berry flavored cognac, Remy Red is the same thing
1/2 ounce strawberry liquor
