Why do they aire ALCOHOL commercials on TV but NOT CIGARETTE COMMERCIALS?!

Question:

Why do they aire ALCOHOL commercials on TV but NOT CIGARETTE COMMERCIALS?

Answers:

There were cigarette commercials up until 1971 when the Government banned them.
There was always a "Gentleman's Agreement" amongst hard liquor advertisers that they would never advertise on Television so as not to influence children. Beer advertisers always made a pact that no one would ever be seen actually "drinking" a beer in a commercial, which is still true today. You never see some guy wipe the beer foam off his face after a big chug either.
Edgar Bronfman, the Capitalist owner of Seagrams, decided to break the pact and start to advertise his wine coolers and then slowly started to advertise all the alcohol brands under the Seagrams label. There was never any need for legislation against the alcohol companies regarding television advertising until Bronfman came along. Some people are just more greedy than others. Thats why his Dad took the whole family and moved to Canada, to avoid American income taxes.
So thats why there are no cigarette ads and there are alcohol ads. But you won't see anybody actually "drink" anything, just hold the glass or can and look cool.
