What is the different between Rum and Whisky other than the taste? Both contain Ethylalcohol and what else?!

Question:

What is the different between Rum and Whisky other than the taste? Both contain Ethylalcohol and what else?

Answers:

Both rum and whiskey are made by distillation. Rum is usually made from sugar cane molasses. Whiskey is made from grain, barley is required to make the proper mash and other grains used may be rye, wheat or corn. Both whiskey and rum are relatively tasteless and harsh when first distilled. Most of the flavor, smoothness and all of the color of the final product come from aging in charred wooden barrels. The quality and cost either spirit if determined by what kinds of barrels it is aged in and how long it is aged.
