Does Hard liquor have an expiration date?!

Question:

Does Hard liquor have an expiration date?

I was wanting an afternoon cocktail and I the only liquor I have is some vodka and tequila that has been around for quiet a while. I can't find a "to use by" date. Does it have an expiration date?

Answers:
Depending on how long "quite a while" is.

The quality/taste will decline as time goes on. Best thing to preserve your liquor is to store them in a dark cool place, away from the heat and the sun.

I've seen people store their liquor on top of their refrigerator and the heat from it just ruins the booze.

EVERYTHING EXPIRES....

no, booze never goes bad, unless it's got a cream base, like Baileys, so go ahead and indulge!

I am gonna say not at all.

The are NO expiration dates on liquor as far as I know of.

water does so, I'm sure liquor does too.

i would imagine it s ok for several months!

Hard liquor of whatever sort [your vodka, tequila amongst 'em] can live forever--as long as the lid is properly screwed down tight to prevent the alcohol content from evaporating. My daddy had a humongous bottle of John Jameson's Irish whisky that he only took a snifter out of twice a year [his birthday and on Christmas morning] and it lasted probably 15 years. He kept it tightly sealed and in the back of the closet [away from the light, e.g.]. Wine is quite another thing, but I don't know too much about it...so mix yourself something tasty with either of your liquors...and with total confidence!

My dear, alcohol is already fermented (aged), and doesn't have an expiration. However, over time you may find that Alcohol becomes stronger with age, and some strong spirits may have a chance of growing a mold on them after several years. My grandmother has some liquors in the basement of her home at her bar, and she has some liquors that have been there for 20+ years, ever since I was a child. Some of them still have not acquired this mold, though, some have, but the ones that haven't I braved to taste, and they still taste wonderful! So, no expiration date, just more fermentation.

Even though they dont technically expire, some hard liquor will not taste quite as good if the bottle has been open and sat for a while. I would say that the vodka would probably be your best choice since they are clear and really dont have much of a flavor to it in the first place. I have noticed that some of our good single malt whiskey's taste extra potent and not as smooth if it is not drunk in a timely manner (your tequilla might have a similar effect). So to answer your question, is it spoiled? No, just might not quite what it once was.

Wouldn't matter around MY house.....

No, it should be good forever.

not dat i knoe of
