Why do people drink and drive?!

Question:

Why do people drink and drive?

One of my friends had a boyfriend who was killed by a drunk driver. I am also part of a group of people that are trying to prevent underage drinking and and all drunk driving.

Answers:
Because they are addicted to alcohol and alcohol makes them do stupid things. I am sorry to hear about your friends boyfriend, stay in this section and talk often about Alcohol addictions.

People drink & drive because they're stupid. End of story.

because they get drunk and they have to drive somewhere.....

Most people don't even know that they are drunk. You will hear them say "I'm ok" It's a shame that they don't have someone to stop them.

because there dumb, some think its cool, some just dont think, and some just dont care

i don't know it is the dumbest thing in the world and people should automatically lose their license for at least 5 years...it is a privilege to drive not a right

when I was underage the coolest thing was getting wasted. Now I think different but underage drinking happens because parents don't do anything about.

Sounds like a good cause to be a part of. I'm not sure why people drink and drive, but it is really sad when someone needlessly is killed because of someone else's stupid choices.

Becuz they r stupid n they don't enjoy life....they'r wasting there valuable time.
DON'T DRINK N DRIVE!!!!!!!! IF U DON'T....YOU WILL BE VERY HAPPY!!!

they r stupid. they dont know how stupid it is. they just want to look cool

Well it is dumb, that's for sure. However, it's mostly lack of public transportation or not having a designated driver. There's many areas of the country where it's just "normal", if I could put it that way (not that I agree with it). Come to Napa Valley sometime and see all the winos driving. I love it here, but I'm not venturing out today, there's the Wine Auction this weekend. You won't catch me driving anywhere until it's over!

multitasking.

I think people saying stupid and dumb is a poor choice of words.

Irresponsible is a better one. I'm sure plenty, if not all, of the people on this very question have driven home "legally" drunk. Nevermind being straight out smashed. Everyone has done it at some point or another.

Its just a very unfortunate everyday occurance where people use bad judgement. The people who are with these people driving home drunk need to take a more active role in stopping drinkers from driving. I think bars and restaraunt are also very irresponsible they way they will just keep giving people drinks all night know they are getting smashed.

Maybe it's because they are hurrying to get home before they pass out.

I lost a friend to drunk driving. Sadly I think that when people get wasted they think that it will make them look cool. When they are dead or have seriously hurt someone else they just look like an idiot.

Because they're Young and Stupid are Teenagers are, and the Establishments and People who supply the Alcohol.

Some people just don't care. Some people think they are not really drunk. Some people that know they're drunk, just hope they'll be lucky.Sorry about the friend being killed, sounds like you're a good person to take up this cause.

People drink and drive becuase they dont think that anything bad is gonna happen or that they will get caught. A drunk person thinks and feels that they can do anything and that nothing or noone can stop them. When your drunk your emotions are altered and you are def not in the right state of mind. Some people just make alcohol there priority in life and dont think about further consequences.. its irresponsible to get behind the wheel while drunk not only for your life but for the life of others... it just takes something bad to happen in order for some fools to understand ....
