Is rum pure alcohol?!

Question:

Is rum pure alcohol?

If not, how much percentwise of alcohol is in it?

Answers:
Like everyone said, it's about 80 proof or 40% alcohol by volume. It's far from being pure alcohol. Rum is made from sugar cane. Normally the strongest alcohols are made from fermented, and then distilled grain or corn. Everclear is the strongest commercially avaialble product, at 190 proof (95%) which is quite a bit stronger than rum. It's not legal everywhere though. And moonshine can be up to that strenght as well.

40% is 8o proof, And it's made from suger cane.

Pure alcohol would kill most people. Rum is usually around 40-50%

No rum is normally 80 proof but you can get 151 and its not pure alcohol. 80 proof is 40% you just devide the proof by 2 abd it will tell you how much alcohol is in it.

All alcohol has a proof labeled on it from beer to rum and beyond. Proof is the percentage divided by 2. So 100 proof alcohol is 50% alcohol. So it follows that for something to be pure alcohol it would have to be 200 proof!

You can find rum in a variety of proofs, from 40 proof (20% alcohol) to 151 proof (75% alcohol) and even higher.

Rum is usually 80 Proof or 40% alcohol. If you drank pure alcohol or 200 Proof im fairly certain you would die.
